The London Handel Players – The Wallace Collection

On 20 November, join The Wallace Collection for a celebration marking the restoration of a masterwork of French genre painting by Carle Vanloo in their collection.

The Grand Turk giving a concert to his mistress, c.1737, features a soprano singing an aria by Handel from his opera Admeto (1727).

This special performance will feature Handel arias, including the one depicted in the painting, sung by the exciting young soprano Sofia Kirwan-Baez. The programme will also include solo works by the Baroque composers and violinists Giovanni Battista Somis, Jean-Marie Leclair and Jean-Pierre Guignon, performed by The London Handel Players, directed from the violin by Adrian Butterfield.
