She Paints Still: Dual Exhibition Mandy Zhang Art

From 4 September to 4 October 2025, She Paints Still unfolds across two London venues, Tiderip and Mandy Zhang Art, bringing together the works of Alexandra Baraitser and YU Xiao in a rare dual presentation. Curated by two London-based gallerists, the exhibition invites audiences to step into the ongoing, interwoven worlds of two female painters, whose practices diverge in form yet converge in their exploration of memory, space, and perception.

At Tiderip, Baraitser’s early paintings reimagine design and domestic interiors, meticulously reconstructing familiar objects with a studied, ordered approach. Alongside them, YU Xiao’s Da Vinci Mirror series examines perception and abstraction through layered images that resist fixed meaning, echoing the fluidity of Hélène Cixous’s écriture féminine.

Meanwhile, Mandy Zhang Art presents Baraitser’s recent canvases, which shift focus to architectural modernism—hotel lobbies, courtyards, façades—rendered with a detached yet contemplative eye. In contrast, YU Xiao’s Utopian Blink series ventures into “non-places”: spaces of potential where attention sharpens, and imagination ignites.

Together, the two exhibitions stage a dialogue on endurance in female artistic practice, cross-cultural identity, and the persistence of painting itself as a vital form of expression in shifting cultural and personal landscapes.
