Michael Anastassiades: In Conversation – The Hellenic Centre
Exploring the creative process behind contemporary design, the Hellenic Centre welcomes designer Michael Anastassiades for a conversation with London-based writer and curator Emily King.
Drawing on Anastassiades’ recent exhibitions at Melas Martinos gallery in Athens and Taka Ishii Gallery in Tokyo, the discussion will consider the iterative nature of design and the way ideas evolve through repetition, experimentation and refinement.
Born in Cyprus and based in London, Anastassiades has built an internationally recognised practice spanning lighting, furniture, objects and spatial design. Since founding his studio in 1994 and his eponymous brand in 2007, his work has become known for its balance of simplicity, precision and material sensitivity.
Taking place on Thursday 10 December at 7pm, the conversation offers a closer look at the thinking behind Anastassiades’ work and the process through which a design develops from its earliest idea into a finished object.
