Dana Awartani: Exhibition – Lisson Gallery
Discover a new exhibition by Saudi-Palestinian artist Dana Awartani, coming to Lisson Gallery this November following her presentation representing Saudi Arabia at the 2026 Venice Biennale.
Drawing on traditional craft and art-making techniques, Awartani’s work explores themes of cultural heritage, preservation and loss, responding to the destruction of monuments and historic sites through war, colonialism and acts of violence.
A recurring element in her practice is the act of mending, with holes and punctures carefully darned by hand. These repairs become symbols of healing and restoration, while also reflecting longstanding traditions of caring for and preserving objects rather than replacing them.
Dana Awartani opens on 19 November at Lisson Gallery, 67 Lisson Street, and runs until February 2027. The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11am–6pm.
