Christmas lights and markets in Marylebone: your festive guide
From the Sherlock Holmes-inspired Christmas lights at Baker Street to the iconic display outside Marylebone Station, in front of The Landmark London, the neighbourhood has plenty to discover over the festive season. Add independent shops, seasonal dining and the Monocle Christmas Market, and you have plenty of reasons to explore Marylebone this winter.

Christmas lights bring a festive touch to Marylebone’s streets and landmarks, making it a lovely time to explore the neighbourhood on foot.
Look out for the Sherlock Holmes-inspired lights at Baker Street, celebrating one of the area’s most famous literary connections, and the iconic Christmas lights at Marylebone Station, just outside the entrance to The Landmark London.
For a festive photo, head to Portman Square Garden, where you can step inside the Christmas bubble and capture a little Christmas magic.
Chiltern Street is also well worth a wander, with its charming independent shops and restaurants adding their own seasonal decorations. Browse the boutiques, stop for a coffee or find somewhere for lunch as you enjoy the street’s distinctive village charm.
Marylebone Village will mark the start of the festive season on Wednesday 11 November 2026, with A Very Merry Marylebone Christmas taking place from 3pm to 8pm. The Christmas lights will be switched on at 6pm on Devonshire Street, alongside festive entertainment, food and activities. Alongside the festivities, the event will raise funds for Evelina London Children’s Charity, while the Christmas lights themselves are made from 100% recycled plastic bottles and use considerably less energy than conventional lighting.
For a different kind of festive shopping, the Monocle Christmas Market brings together an international mix of design, fashion, food and independent makers in Marylebone.
Each year, the international magazine and radio station opens its headquarters, Midori House on Dorset Street, for a weekend of carefully selected brands and makers. Previous editions have featured knitwear, leather goods, artisan food and design-led gifts, alongside seasonal drinks and treats.
It’s a good place to find something a little different for Christmas, whether you’re shopping for design enthusiasts, looking for presents for friends or simply enjoying a browse.
