Picture Marylebone Photography Competition

Welcome to Picture Marylebone — a celebration of the people, places, and everyday moments that make this neighbourhood so special. From hidden corners and familiar streets to snapshots of community life, the competition invited photographers of all ages and experience levels to share their personal view of Marylebone.

The response was outstanding, with a remarkable number of entries reflecting the creativity and diversity of those who live, work, and spend time here. This exhibition showcases eleven selected images, including winners from both adult and young people’s categories alongside nine highly commended photographs. Together, they form a collective portrait of Marylebone through the eyes of the community.

The winning images are displayed in a special public exhibition at Marylebone Station, with selected entries also featured across Make it Marylebone’s website and social channels — bringing local creativity to thousands of visitors and passengers each day

Winner – Adult Category

Photographer- Tytti Mattila

“Captured outside Baker Street Station at dusk, this photograph was taken while I was waiting at a bus stop and witnessed an extraordinary sunset unfolding over the city.

The sky was illuminated in layered tones of orange, peach, and gold, casting a warm glow across the architecture and trees of Marylebone.

Beyond the striking colours, the image reflects the rhythm of everyday London life, cyclists in motion, traffic flowing steadily, and city lights beginning to shimmer.

This creates a harmonious contrast between the tranquillity of the sky and the vibrancy of the street below.”

Winner – Young People

Photographer- Luca Sidhu

“I’ve lived in Marylebone with my family for over fifteen years. We’ve been happily raising our two children here and have grown to love so much about this wonderful neighbourhood. Since my teenage years, I’ve been passionate about photography and, as a lifelong Londoner, I enjoy exploring and capturing the many aspects of our city through my lens.” – Miriam Ward

“Marylebone moves with the present, yet sometimes the past parks itself gently at the curb.”

“This image was taken of the sky above Clarence Gate Gardens – just a few hundred yards from Marylebone Station – capturing the love of living in this part of London. The photograph was taken by a resident, who has lived here for over 16 years (with his wife and black lab), but who travelled in and out of Marylebone Station for work for the 20 years prior to this, when he lived in Haddenham and then (near) Bicester. This really is a fabulous place to live and work.”

“A Brief Encounter
Over 20 million people use Baker Street Station every year from across the world. Chance meetings, conscious and unconscious, take place every second as we swarm down escalators and onto trains. Two shadows overlap and unknowingly hold hands for a moment as they go up the stairs then disappear forever into the chaos of the city.”

With thanks to our partners

Picture Marylebone forms part of the wider Marylebone on Display programme, curated by Baker Street Quarter Partnership and funded by Chiltern Railways’s Community Investment Fund. The competition was judged by a panel representing local organisations, education, and the rail industry — a testament to the strong partnerships at the heart of this project. We’re grateful to all our partners, judges, and contributors for helping bring this exhibition to life and for supporting local creativity in Marylebone.
