Warwick Prize for Women in Translation: Shortlist Event – Veranda Books
Celebrate some of the most exciting international women’s writing at Veranda Books this October, as the Marylebone bookshop hosts a special event marking the 2026 Warwick Prize for Women in Translation shortlist.
Taking place shortly after this year’s shortlist is announced, the evening will shine a spotlight on women writers from around the world whose work has been brought to English-language readers through translation. Established in 2017, the Warwick Prize for Women in Translation was created to address the gender imbalance in translated literature and champion international women’s voices.
Hosted by Veranda Books, the celebratory event, titled Unsilencing the Female Voice, will be chaired by writer, translator and University of Warwick professor Maureen Freely. It offers readers the chance to delve deeper into the books, writers and translators recognised by this year’s prize, while exploring the importance of translated literature in bringing a wider range of stories and perspectives to UK readers.
The event takes place on Thursday 29 October 2026 at Veranda Books, following the announcement of the 2026 shortlist on 26 October. The overall winner will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on 16 November.
