Valo Quartet – Wigmore Hall

Valo Quartet presents a programme spanning Szymanowski, Minna Leinonen and Mendelssohn, bringing together vivid colour, atmosphere and expressive intensity.

The recital opens with Szymanowski’s String Quartet No. 1 in C, before turning to the UK premiere of Soisin by Finnish composer Minna Leinonen, a short work inspired by the mysterious landscapes of Finland’s swamps.

The programme concludes with Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No. 2 in A minor, written while the composer was still a teenager and shaped by ideas of romantic love.
