At the heart of the story is Abe, a celebrated novelist struggling to capture his parents’ untold history while navigating the collapse of his own marriage. When Hollywood actress Julia Cheever begins a mysterious correspondence with him, the line between fiction and reality blurs—inviting questions of loyalty, imagination, and the stories that shape us.

As Abe’s Orthodox Jewish parents, Schmuli and Esther, emerge vividly from his writing—young, impassioned, and caught between tradition and desire—the audience is drawn into a layered exploration of love, betrayal, and identity.
