The Wallace Collection: A Short History
Discover the fascinating story behind The Wallace Collection with a special talk exploring the people, personalities and discoveries that shaped the museum as it is known today.
Led by Curator of Decorative Arts Alexander Collins and former Curatorial Administrator Timothy Evers, the talk accompanies the newly revised publication The Wallace Collection: A Short History, an updated take on the much-loved The Founders of the Wallace Collection.
From amusing anecdotes to surprising new discoveries, the event delves into the lives of the collection’s inspiring and often eccentric founders, offering a deeper understanding of how their tastes, relationships and experiences helped shape the works now housed at Hertford House.
Taking place on 24 August 2026 from 1pm to 2pm, the free talk can be attended in person at the museum or watched live online via Zoom.
