The Politics of Defeating Hitler – The Wallace Collection

Join author, Tim Bouverie, as he discusses the crucial roles played by Churchill and allies during this turbulent time. Through key discoveries he gleaned from over one hundred archives – including first-hand accounts and unpublished diaries – you will gain thought-provoking insights into the dramatic political complexities involved in defeating Hitler.

About the speakers: Tim Bouverie is the author of the Sunday Times bestseller Appeasing Hitler: Chamberlain Churchill and the Road to War, (2020) shortlisted for the Orwell Prize. His latest book Allies at War: The Politics of Defeating Hitler was published in April 2025 to great acclaim. He studied history at Christ Church Oxford and was the 2020-21 Alistair Horne Fellow at St Antony’s College, Oxford.

Take part at the museum: This talk will take place in the Theatre, Lower Ground Floor. The museum will reopen from 18.00 for ticketholders and the event finishes at 20.45. Tickets include refreshments and the opportunity to see the display.

Watch online: This talk will also be broadcast live from the museum via Zoom. Online ticketholders will be emailed a link to join 24 hours in advance. Ticketholders will also receive a link to view a recording of the talk, which will be available for two weeks.
