Sweet 16: Young Masters Retrospective – 67 York Street

About

To mark its 16th anniversary, Young Masters presents Sweet 16: Young Masters Retrospective, a landmark exhibition at 67 York Street Gallery in Marylebone during Frieze Week. Since its founding in 2009, Young Masters has become a celebrated platform for emerging and established artists who engage with the past while pushing the boundaries of contemporary practice.

This special showcase revisits significant moments from the prize’s history while spotlighting exciting new voices. The exhibition includes works by Ghost of a Dream, joint winners of the inaugural Young Masters Art Prize in 2009; Matt Smith, winner of the inaugural Young Masters Maylis Grand Ceramic Prize in 2014, unveiling new tapestries; and Ebony Russell, winner of the Brookfield Properties Craft Award 2025.

Uniting artists who reinterpret classical traditions, cultural narratives and art historical references with fresh perspectives, Sweet 16 reflects on the prize’s enduring role in fostering dialogue, diversity and innovation. Set in the heart of Marylebone, this exhibition offers visitors a rare chance to explore the legacy and future of one of the art world’s most distinctive prizes.
