St Valentine’s Day: Love, History & Film
A Valentine’s for Everyone: Forbidden Love, Secret Weddings & Classic Film
This Valentine’s Day, St Marylebone Parish Church opens its doors for a celebration of love that goes beyond couples. Whether you’re marking Valentine’s, Galentine’s, Palentine’s, or simply celebrating friendship, join for an afternoon of romance, rebellion, and storytelling.
Walk the aisles where Victorian poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning defied her father to marry Robert Browning in secret, and explore tales of scandalous unions and famous love stories that have shaped Marylebone for centuries.
After the guided tour, relax in the Crypt for a screening of the classic film The Barretts of Wimpole Street (1957), commemorating the Brownings’ 180th wedding anniversary.
