About
This summer, Frameless invites visitors to experience art in a bold new way through Spoken Word: The Art of Expression, a powerful fusion of visual and verbal storytelling.
In collaboration with acclaimed London-born rapper, poet, and spoken word artist George the Poet, and the Mayor of London’s Violence Reduction Unit (VRU), this initiative transforms the immersive galleries into a platform for emotional reflection, creativity, and fresh perspectives.
At the heart of the project is a moving spoken word response from George the Poet to Reflections on the Thames by John Atkinson Grimshaw, a lyrical bridge between London’s past and its present. Visitors can listen to this exclusive piece via QR codes in-gallery, experiencing it in direct dialogue with the artwork that inspired it.
Alongside George’s work, Spoken Word: The Art of Expression features original pieces written and performed by young Londoners from the VRU, offering raw, honest reflections on identity, community, and personal growth.
The project also invites the public to participate in workshops and the #SummerOfExpression competition, empowering a new generation to share their voices and respond to art in their own words.
This unique collaboration offers more than just a new way to view art — it’s an opportunity to feel it, speak it, and be part of a growing movement of creative expression.
As part of the Art of Expression series, FRAMELESS also hosts free spoken word workshops every Friday during the summer holidays. Led by leading UK spoken word artists, these 45-minute drop-in sessions encourage young people (ages 8+) to explore their voice and creativity through poetry and performance.
Workshops take place at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm in the ‘Blank Canvas’ Gallery and are free with a FRAMELESS ticket—offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Join us for a season of reflection, imagination, and expression.
