Sought and Found: Exhibition – 67 York Street Gallery

Discover SOUGHT AND FOUND: Contemporary Korean Art, a group exhibition bringing together six artists based in Korea, coming to 67 York Street Gallery this September.

Presented by Gallery JIB, the exhibition features work by Yang Sunghoon, Jang sooji, Woo Jongtaek, Kwon Soohyun, Kim Seoul and Lim Hyunhee, exploring subjects ranging from the Korean moon jar and the experience of growing up to memory, breath, movement and connection.

Working across different approaches and materials, the six artists consider experiences that can be difficult to put into words. Familiar objects, personal memories, invisible forces and repeated gestures become ways of exploring perception, vulnerability and the feelings that often emerge before they can be clearly explained.

The exhibition’s title reflects this idea of recognition: encountering something in a work and understanding its significance, sometimes before knowing exactly why. In doing so, SOUGHT AND FOUND leaves space for the viewer’s own memories, emotions and imagination to become part of the experience.
SOUGHT AND FOUND: Contemporary Korean Art runs from 24–30 September at 67 York Street Gallery, open daily from 11am–6pm and on Sunday from 11am–5pm.
