Royal Academy of Music Song Circle – Wigmore Hall
The Royal Academy of Music Song Circle returns to Wigmore Hall with a beautifully curated afternoon of art song exploring themes of love, longing and new beginnings.
Baritone Aksel Rykkvin opens with a rich selection from Hugo Wolf’s Mörike Lieder, moving from tenderness and playfulness to reflection and farewell. Soprano Madeleine Perring follows with a sequence of luminous French mélodies by Henri Duparc, full of poetry, atmosphere and emotional depth. The programme closes with tenor Woogyeom Kim performing a group of Richard Strauss songs that culminate in the radiant optimism of Morgen, offering a gentle sense of hope and “happily ever after”.
With three emerging singers and pianists from the Royal Academy of Music, this one-hour recital offers an intimate and expressive journey through some of the most beautiful song writing of the late 19th century.
