Veranda Books welcomes author and journalist Phoebe Greenwood for a conversation with Nosheen Iqbal about her debut novel, Vulture.
Set against the 2012 conflict in Gaza, the novel follows ambitious young journalist Sara Byrne as she navigates the pressures, rivalries and moral compromises of war reporting. Darkly funny and sharply observed, Vulture explores the relationship between the media and the stories it tells, questioning the ethics, ambition and human cost behind the pursuit of a headline.
Drawing on Greenwood’s own experience as a Middle East correspondent, the evening offers the chance to hear more about the ideas and experiences behind the novel, and its wider examination of journalism, power and responsibility.
