Pavel Haas Quartet – Wigmore Hall

Discover the Pavel Haas Quartet in a programme celebrating the rich traditions and distinctive sound of Czech chamber music.

At its centre is Pavel Haas’s String Quartet No. 3 Op. 15, a work that brings together elements of Moravian folksong with a sharper modernist edge. The quartet, which has championed Haas’s music since its formation in 2002, pairs the piece with The Kreutzer Sonata by his teacher, Leoš Janáček.

The programme also expands beyond the traditional quartet, with two close colleagues joining the ensemble for Dvořák’s String Sextet for two violins, two violas and two cellos, a work shaped by the composer’s own folk-inspired musical language.
