Over the Edge: Exhibition – 67 York Street Gallery
Discover Over the Edge, an exhibition of paintings by artist Nici Bungey, coming to 67 York Street Gallery this October.
Bringing together work primarily created over the past decade, the exhibition explores Bungey’s distinctive approach to abstraction through colour, proportion and carefully balanced composition. Her seemingly simple works reveal a more complex visual structure on closer inspection, drawing the viewer into their layered forms.
Using layers of heat-pressed paint, Bungey creates highly polished surfaces, combining bold colour with a strong sense of symmetry. Her practice reflects a long-standing interest in abstract painting, informed by studies in design, graphic and media design, and textile design.
Over the Edge follows her 2016 exhibition Approaching the Edge at Soho Revue Gallery. Since then, Bungey has reached the final of both the former Jerwood Prize and the John Moores Painting Prize, as well as exhibiting regularly at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and London Art Fair.
Over the Edge runs from 15–18 October at 67 York Street Gallery in Marylebone.
