Kafka Fragments – Wigmore Hall
Soprano Rebecca Hardwick and violinist Tamsin Waley-Cohen perform György Kurtág’s Kafka Fragments, a striking work completed 40 years ago and shaped from fragments of Franz Kafka’s writings.
Through a series of brief, aphoristic pieces, the work moves between haunting imagery, dark humour and searching reflections on the human condition in the modern world. Hardwick and Waley-Cohen bring its vivid theatricality and rapidly shifting moods to life in an intense dialogue between voice and violin.
