Irene Y. Panagopoulos: In Conversation – The Hellenic Centre
The Hellenic Centre brings together collector and cultural advocate Irene Y. Panagopoulos, curator Katerina Hadji and Dr. Nayia Yiakoumaki, Director of the Hellenic Centre, for a conversation exploring the ideas behind Revisiting: Fernweh, or Nostalgia for Unknown Lands.
At the centre of the discussion is the act of collecting — not simply as the gathering of objects, but as a way of making sense of the world and deciding which stories are preserved, displayed and passed on. The conversation will consider how these ideas connect with Fernweh, the longing for distant or unknown places that gives the exhibition its title.
Drawing on their different perspectives as collector, curator and cultural director, Panagopoulos, Hadji and Yiakoumaki will reflect on the ways knowledge, memory and imagination shape how Greece is represented and continually reinterpreted through art.
Taking place on Friday 16 October, the morning begins with breakfast at 9.30am, followed by the discussion and Q&A from 10am–11am. Entry is free, with advance booking required.
