Sintra Quartet – String Quartet

The Sintra Quartet is a dynamic new ensemble formed at the Royal Academy of Music, featuring four accomplished musicians from across Europe. Recently accepted into the prestigious ASSET scheme at the Academy, they are coached by John Myerscough of the Doric Quartet and have also benefited from sessions with Alex Redington and Levon Chilingirian. With a shared passion for chamber music, each member brings extensive experience and a unique musical voice to the group.

Musicians:

Portuguese violinist Vicente Sobral, a prizewinner in numerous international competitions, recently graduated from the Lisbon Superior School of Music and is now continuing his studies at the Royal Academy of Music. He has performed at prestigious venues such as the Konzerthaus Berlin and collaborates regularly with leading orchestras, including the Gulbenkian Orchestra and the Portuguese Chamber Orchestra.

British-Polish violinist Emily Trubshaw is known for her affinity with contemporary music, having made her professional debut with the London Sinfonietta at Queen Elizabeth Hall. A graduate of the University of Cambridge and the Royal Academy of Music, where she earned a master’s degree with distinction, Emily is now continuing her postgraduate studies with So-Ock Kim. Her studies are supported by Help Musicians UK and the Albert Cooper Music Trust.

Violist Eugenia García Cuesta, from Asturias, Spain, is currently studying at the Royal Academy under the guidance of Jon Thorne. Passionate about making classical music accessible, she has given numerous educational recitals in her hometown and performs with the Avilés Symphony Orchestra, bringing her deep commitment to outreach and education to the ensemble.

English-Italian cellist Joe Reynolds is a versatile performer, having given concerts at iconic venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and St Paul’s Cathedral. A winner of multiple competitions as a cellist, pianist, and composer, he has performed internationally, most recently giving concerts in Paris and Vienna. A graduate of both Oxford and Cambridge universities, he is now continuing his postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy, supported by an Ian Fleming Instrumentalist Award and J & A Beare.
