Carmen Herrera: Exhibition – Lisson Gallery
Discover Pulse, Pause, Repeat, an exhibition of drawings, paintings and sculpture by Cuban-American artist Carmen Herrera, coming to Lisson Gallery this September.
Curated by art historian Marie Perennès, the exhibition focuses on the final decade of Herrera’s life, bringing together works that reflect an artistic practice shaped by more than 80 years of experimentation with line, form and colour. Across four gallery spaces, bold geometric compositions, saturated colours and precise architectural forms create a strong sense of rhythm and movement.
The exhibition also explores Herrera’s distinctive balance of order and playfulness, from interlocking colour studies and grid-like paintings to sculptural works from her Estructuras series. Black-and-white works complete the display, highlighting the clarity and simplicity at the heart of her visual language.
Carmen Herrera: Pulse, Pause, Repeat runs from 24 September to 7 November at Lisson Gallery, 67 Lisson Street. The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11am–6pm.
