About
From 8th June to 28th September 2025, The Gallery of Everything presents BOWLS, POTS, VESSELS, URNS, CREATURES, TABLES, LUMPS, a wide-ranging summer exhibition exploring the diverse history of ceramic practices from the 18th to the 21st century.
Inspired by an imagined Abyssinian poem, the exhibition brings together over a dozen artists and makers, spanning centuries, styles and geographies. Anonymous works and archaeological fragments sit alongside the glazed Mississippi mud forms of George Ohr, the aquatic-inspired containers of the Martin Brothers, Alan Constable’s collapsed photographic sculptures, and the forest deities of Japanese artist Shinichi Sawada. These works are thoughtfully arranged upon the elegant fabricated tabletops of potter, painter and poet Matthew Lutz-Kinoy, creating a tactile and ever-changing display.
Far from static, the exhibition will subtly shift and evolve over time, meaning that a visit on one day may reveal an entirely different installation to the next. Alongside the ceramics, visitors can enjoy screenings in the gallery’s viewing room, including early episodes of Morph by Peter Lord and David Sproxton, as well as surrealist animations by Jan Švankmajer.
Playful, elusive and endlessly imaginative, BOWLS, POTS, VESSELS, URNS, CREATURES, TABLES, LUMPS is a celebration of clay in all its forms.
