Books: A Manifesto Ian Patterson in conversation with Jon Day

On Wednesday 1 October 2025, Veranda Books will host an evening with Ian Patterson, acclaimed poet, teacher, translator, bookseller and lifelong bibliophile. Patterson will be joined by writer and reviewer Jon Day to discuss his new book, Books: A Manifesto.

In this wise, irreverent and exhilarating work, Patterson explores the “strange, enduring magic” of books and argues for the radical importance of reading in our lives. Drawing on a lifetime immersed in literature, he reflects on the cultural and personal significance of books as objects, companions, and catalysts for change.

This event offers audiences the chance to hear two brilliant literary voices in conversation about why books continue to matter — not only for the stories they hold, but for the communities and connections they inspire.

Whether guests already have a library at home, dream of building one, or simply want to meet fellow bibliophiles, this evening promises to be lively, thought-provoking, and deeply inspiring.

Book you free spot, here.
