Book Launch: Blackout by Yann Chateigné Tytelman – Veranda Books

On Thursday 2nd October 2025, Veranda Books welcomes author Yann Chateigné Tytelman for the launch of his striking new work Blackout, published by pioneering independent press Les Fugitives and translated by Clem Clement.

Blackout is a brief yet powerful meditation on silence and darkness in art, music, literature and philosophy. Fragmentary and deeply personal, the text weaves essayistic reflections with an emotionally charged letter to a father lost to dementia, capturing the complexities of memory, estrangement, and grief. At once intimate and intellectual, it explores the elusive bonds between father and son, class and identity, light and absence.

Yann Chateigné Tytelman is a French author and curator based in Brussels, with an accomplished career that has included positions at the KANAL-Centre Pompidou Brussels, HEAD Geneva, and CAPC Bordeaux. He is also co-founder of Celador, a collective-run art space in Brussels. Translator Clem Clement, who brings Blackout to English readers, is a London-based literary translator specialising in contemporary French writing.

This promises to be a compelling evening of literature, art and conversation, celebrating the UK launch of a text already recognised for its intensity and originality.
