The Wallace Collection

About

The Wallace Collection is a national museum in an historic London town house. In 25 galleries are unsurpassed displays of French 18th century painting, furniture and porcelain with superb Old Master paintings and a world class armory.

As seen in the ‘Marylebone on Display’ exhibition

“The Wallace Collection has been at the heart of Marylebone for 125 years.

A private collection that was given to the nation in 1897, there’s no other museum quite like it in London. Some people come to see Rembrandts and Canalettos, others the armour, porcelain or furniture. Some come for stories of Marie Anntoinette and Madame de Pompadour, while others are here just to enjoy an oasis of calm in the centre of the city.

Often called a hidden gem, the Wallace Collection really is the jewel in the crown of Marylebone. It’s arguably the largest gift of its kind ever given to the British people so, as I always say, this is your stuff -you might as well come and see it!”
